The City of Putnam is located in the state of Texas, in Callahan County. Despite being a part of the much more populous Abilene metropolitan area, Putnam lost most of its population over the second half of the 20th century, finally dipping below the 100 mark in the late 90s- early 2000s. The population was 88 in 2000 and the current population is 71.
