Jim gives an entertaining and incredibly eye-opening account of the current state of education. His insights and approach highlight how the future of schools need to be ready for what's next. Jim McKenzie holds an M.Ed. from the University of Florida. He has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and worked in both public and private schools. He currently serves as the Headmaster of The Rock School, a K-12 Christian school in Gainesville where he has worked since 1999. Jim is also a speaker and consultant and has presented at numerous schools and conferences across North America. He has published work in The Elementary School Journal and Teachers of Vision. He was a finalist for SECME's National Teacher of the Year Award for his work in developing an elementary STEM program aimed at reaching minority students. Jim currently serves as the marketing & enrollment consultant for the prestigious Van Lunen Center, an organization that provides world-class executive management training for heads of Christian schools. He and his wife, Hannah, have been married for 18 years and they have 5 children. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
