This is the only ever album release by this UK Power trio called `Ginhouse`, released in the UK on the B&C label (CAS 1031) in 1971, it came in a gatefold sleeve with die cut inner (the record is placed via the inside of the sleeve), a mint copy sold in 2018 for £333 Ex copies also reach a nice price, there is also a 1971 German pressing released on the Decca label (96369 006) that is worth looking out for, a copy went for £260 in 2016!

Formed from the ashes of `Household` a Newcastle club band, bassist Stewart Burlison and drummer David Whitaker teamed up with guitarist Geoff Sharkey from another local act `The Lusika State Group`. Now called Ginhouse they gigged the Tyneside circuit opening for Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Free and Black Sabbath etc.
In 1970 they won the Melody Maker `Battle of the Bands` at London’s Lyceum theatre with an appearance by David Bowie, who did an unaccompanied rendition of his recent hit “Space Oddity.” An offer came from B&C Records, a label linked to Charisma and they released their self-titled album in 1971 on B&C (UK) and Philips (Germany). Recorded at Abbey Road Studios with Swedish producer Anders Henriksson (Quatermass - who added keyboards on select passages)
Original copies are housed in a gatefold sleeve by designer Dave Field and sleeve artist Ian Latimer. Management and money issues plagued Ginhouse, who returned to Newcastle in 1972 and folded.
