It expresses the frustrations of comparison, being caught in a cycle of the same mistakes and longing for a breakthrough in a world that never stops turning.

It blends introspective lyrics with atmospheric landscapes that mirror the tension between the feeling of being overshadowed and yearning to shine. It is a confession and a call to keep pushing forwards, even when others seem to burn brighter.

Pianist, poetic storyteller and producer Bailey Lanes delves into her own experiences to provide vivid musical narratives for a disenchanted generation. Sonically, we hear Lanes channeling the spirit of Bristol’s 90s Trip Hop scene, with nods to Massive Attack and Portishead in instrumentation and production. Organic sounds meld with pads and reverb effects as layered vocals create an ethereal intimacy to the production.
