THE SOUND OF MUZAK by PORCUPINE TREE (as played by Gavin Harrison)

Описание к видео THE SOUND OF MUZAK by PORCUPINE TREE (as played by Gavin Harrison)

After drum videos dedicated exclusively to what I have done and I currently do with various bands, the time has come to pay tribute to those who helped me be the drummer I am today, stealing with my ears (pre-Internet era) and in some cases with my eyes.

I discovered Porcupine Tree with In Absentia, a record in which Gavin Harrison replaced Chris Maitland and gave to the music a rhythmic structure and complexity that would attract the curiosity of many progressive Metal fans, despite a more psychedelic rock and songwriting inspiration of the eraly days of the band. Gavin Harrison taught me many concepts, but what I absorbed and internalized the most from him is the ability to embellish and enrich the groove or a rhythmic pattern with a "pop" taste. Playing articulated and dynamic things but remaining "simple", making odd-time signatures as if they were "straight". Obviously there are things I don't like about him, like too much "over-playing" sometimes or playing too many notes - but that's also something that I decided to avoid thanks to him.

These performances are deliberately recorded in one or two takes and without editing (there is no need to cheat, I will never sound like these drummers).

Thanks to Aramini Strumenti Musicali for Vic Firth sticks and Paiste cymbals.
Hire me as a session drummer on Soundbetter: https://soundbetter.com/profiles/1153...

Thanks
