It's hard to overstate the significance of Israel's decision to try to destroy Iran's nuclear program militarily. It is an operation years in the making, with the potential to change the Middle East. It is also the implementation of 'the Begin doctrine', Menachem Begin's principle that no country with the intention of destroying Israel can be allowed the ultimate weapon.

At a time when much of our usual programming had been suspended, the Begin Center organized a special 'emergency' webinar to help our audience understand just what has happened and why, and what may transpire next.

To that end we invited Yaakov Katz, who has spent much of his time explaining Israel's motivations on Western media channels, to analyze what has happened, and what may transpire next.

Yaakov Katz is an Israeli-American author and journalist and a senior fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute in Jerusalem. Between 2016 and 2023, Yaakov was editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post and he is the author of three books - “Shadow Strike – Inside Israel’s Secret Mission to Eliminate Syrian Nuclear Power”, “Weapon Wizards - How Israel Became a High-Tech Military Superpower” and “Israel vs. Iran: The Shadow War”.

His next book – titled “While Israel Slept” – is scheduled for publication by St. Martin’s Press in the fall of 2025.
