Starring: Johanna Wokalek, David Wenham and John Goodman.
The world premiere of the film took place in Berlin on October 19, 2009.

Plot

Joanna (Johanna Wokalek), born into the family of an ordinary village priest (Iain Glen), has demonstrated extraordinary mental abilities and an irresistible thirst for knowledge since childhood. Having received an education, despite existing prohibitions, but barely survived during the Norman invasion, she decides to impersonate a man, taking the name John Anglicus. Once in Rome, Joanna becomes the personal physician and adviser to the current Pope Sergius (John Goodman), and after his death, she herself, being elected, occupies the papal throne.
