IRRI – Transforming Agriculture with Data

Описание к видео IRRI – Transforming Agriculture with Data

Food at the moment is taken for granted – the population of the world is increasing, the amount of land is decreasing, the climate is changing. Agriculture will have to work in sustainable ways – in ways that people can afford food. – Marco van den Berg, CIO, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI).

IRRI is home to 136,000 varieties of rice and aims to develop crops resistant to climate change. IRRI uses Qlik’s platform to analyze and visualize data so that it becomes dynamic and usable. Data is collected from different countries and using analytics, trends are spotted in a timely manner. Conducting what-if analysis and government reporting has also become easier using Qlik – dynamic dashboards are easier to view than spreadsheets.

IRRI’s dream for the future is to create a digital gene bank where all of the accessions in their gene bank are fully sequenced so that it can be mined and explored using analytics.
