Easy Campfire Dutch Oven Bread

Описание к видео Easy Campfire Dutch Oven Bread

Hi! Today I’ll be teaching you how to make bread in a Dutch oven.
Activate your yeast using sugar and warm water.

Flour.

Salt.

Butter.

Gradually mix in the rest of your warm water.

Once it’s well combined, dump it onto a floured surface and start kneading the dough. (10-15 minutes)

Add some olive oil in a bowl. Toss the dough around in the olive oil.

Cover the bowl and let the dough proof for about an hour and a half, or until it’s doubled in size.

Put your pot over the embers of your campfire until it’s hot.

Place a couple pieces of the burning wood (or charcoal) on the pot lid so that there’s heat coming into the pot from both the top and the bottom.

Take the dough out of the bowl and shape it.

Mold the dough into a ball and cut it in half. This recipe makes 2 loaves of bread.

Mold each half into a ball.

Gently move a ball of dough onto a piece of parchment paper and put the other one back into the bowl and cover the top so it doesn’t dry out.

Carefully remove the top of the pot and place the parchment paper inside.

Be careful not to drop any ashes onto the dough when putting the lid back on.

Put the lid back on and cover it with the charcoal again.

The bottom of the pot should be at least 15-20 cm (6-8") away from the fire or the bread will burn.

Let it bake for about 20-25 minutes. Times may vary.

Be careful not to drop anything into the bread when you’re taking the pot lid off.

Make sure your pot is elevated at least 15-20cm to ensure that the bottom of the bread doesn’t burn.

Placing the burning wood on top of the lid also helps give the top of the bread a nice golden-brown colour.
