Dr. Brace talks Saddle Nose Deformity

Описание к видео Dr. Brace talks Saddle Nose Deformity

Today's #facialplasticsfriday is one you won't want to miss!

Dr. Brace shares with us today an unusual topic in rhinoplasty: a saddle nose deformity.

A saddle nose deformity is typically caused by rotting or breaking down of the septal cartilage which supports the nose, therein causing the nose to sink in because there is no structural support. So when you're looking at the side view of the nose, it's the mid-part that is sunken in (like the saddle of a horse!)
But what causes this?

Most common is cocaine use, prior surgery & then there are weird and wonderful things like vasculitis which is an autoimmune disease that attacks the blood vessels to the lining of the cartilage and basically kills the cartilage - which is what Dr. Brace chats about with us today!

Watch and learn as Dr. Brace shows before/after images of a patient with vasculitis and walks us through her surgery to give her a functional rhinoplasty.

Send us your questions and stay tuned this weekend as Dr. Brace takes on Washington for the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery Board exam as an examiner!
