BrahMos-II, India's First Hypersonic missile, to match Russia's Zircon missile - report

Brahmos Aerospace CEO Atul Rane has made a big statement on India-Russia joint venture. Speaking to Russia's TASS news agency, Atul Rane said that Hypersonic Brahmos-II will have same performance characteristics as Russia’s Zircon missile. This means Brahmos-II will likely be at par with Zircon missile in terms of performance. Russia has claimed that its Hypersonic Zircon missile can fly nine times the speed of sound. The supersonic version of Brahmos flies at speed of 2.8 mach - nearly three times the speed of sound. Atul Rane also told TASS that Brahmos-II would take up to five-six years before first flight trials. Currently, joint-development of Brahmos-II is underway by DRDO and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya.
