Sky News host Paul Murray says the Commonwealth Bank has given Australia’s fire-stricken regions the boost they so desperately needed as they march through adversity and reach the light at the end of the tunnel.

Dozens of Australians lost their lives following last summer's damaging bushfires which ripped across the country.

“Communities were turned upside down, families torn apart and livelihoods destroyed - the road to recovery is a long one and it still rolls on these many months later,” Mr Murray said.

Commonwealth Bank launched the Bushfire Recovery Grants program in January and have up to $10 million available to support community organisations, schools and fire brigades.

The CBA came to the rescue of the Picton Rural Fire Brigade and provided them with the funding necessary for their continuation.

Commonwealth Bank also gave a grant to The Australian Wildlife Foundation to help them rebuild.

Australian Wildlife Foundation Managing Director Bradley Wilson said the foundation hoped to reopen by March 2021, which was only possible thanks to the support provided by the CBA.
