Amy is here to narrate for us on how removable braces work. Removable braces are removable, and they are used to correct a single problem at a time. They must be worn in the mouth to work. To insert the upper appliance by pushing up with your thumbs. While to remove the brace, place your index fingers over the back wire cribs and pull down. To remedy sores dry the rough area with a tissue and then apply wax. Remove the wax before meals and replace it after, if the wax falls off add some more.

Some noticeable changes during the first week is you may salivate more than usual, and you may have a lisp. If the appliance cannot be worn or the wax does not help call the practice and ask for advice or book an emergency appointment.

Foods to avoid are, chewing gum, toffe, fizzy drinks, and popcorn. For hard foods do not bite into it, cut your food with a knife and fork and chew with the back teeth. Also do not break hard candy or ice with your teeth

Make sure to keep your braces safe, never leave it lying around, do not wrap it in tissue, or put your braces in your pocket without a hard case and do not flick your braces in and out as it will break. Every time you break your braces there will be a replacement charge

Removable braces must be worn at all times even during meals. They should only be taken out when cleaning your teeth or playing contact sports, when playing sports wear a mouth guard instead. When cleaning your teeth, remove appliance and use a soft toothbrush and toothpaste to brush your teeth and gums. You must brush 5 times a day, once before breakfast, once after, once after lunch, once after dinner, and once just before going to bed
