Kylesku Bridge is undoubtedly a must-see on the famous North Coast 500! The iconic bridge was designed to complement the surrounding area as it replaced a car ferry and formed part of the A894. If you have time, stop and admire this great feature… When the wind is still, Kylesku Bridge is the perfect location to slow down, stop the engine and catch your breath, if only for a moment.
There’s no doubt that you will drive over the Kylesku Bridge on your North Coast 500 road trip. It’s on the official route, so keep your eyes peeled as you drive along the A894. Kylesku Bridge has a distinctive curve, so once the landscape opens up to a view of Loch a’ Chairn Bhain then enjoy the surrounding outstanding views over Sutherland as you drive across.
Park your vehicle at either of the two nearby car parks to be amazed by the beauty of the bridge in-situ. There are two car parks at Kylesku Bridge; one on each side.
This car park has a better angle to enjoy the bridge and admire how the structure compliments the wider scenery. There is also a plaque at the north car park which celebrates the opening of the bridge and a cairn. Park at this location to walk to the best Kylesku Bridge viewpoint for jaw-dropping photographs.
The south car park is at a slightly lower level, and closer to the village of Kylesku. If you’d like to walk over to the hotel for a dinner, take a boat trip, or be in closer proximity to public toilets then park at this car park.

Allt Chranaidh Waterfall

Where are the Wailing Widow Falls
The falls are located in the Scottish Highlands, not too far North of Ullapool. You’ll find them on the A894, not long after you’ve passed Kylesku Bridge. We added it to our Nc500 itinerary, making it one of our main stops on the drive between Betty Hill and Ullapool.

How to get to the Wailing Widow Falls
There are two ways to see the falls, a birds-eye, drone-style view, or a much closer experience at the base.

To get to the parking spots you can either Google the falls themselves, or search for Loch na Gainmhich. Google maps found both pretty accurately, however, it’s worth noting that neither are visible from the road (if you’re coming in from the North).
