Solar Impulse Airplane - Best of First Round-The-World Solar Flight, Nanjing - Nagoya

Описание к видео Solar Impulse Airplane - Best of First Round-The-World Solar Flight, Nanjing - Nagoya

André Borschberg took off with Solar Impulse from Nanjing to Hawaii on Saturday 30 at 18:39UTC in what was an attempt to cross the Pacific, which is the longest and most challenging flight of the Round-the-World Solar Flight. Unfortunately the weather window to reach Hawaii closed. The cold front was too dangerous to cross, consequently the solar team decided to land in Nagoya Airfield. André Borschberg landed at 23:49 local time, after a 44h10min solar flight, breaking a new record for the longest flight in a Solar Aircraft. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 28'000 feet (8'634 m) and covered a distance of 2'852 km. The mobile hangar took 24h to arrive in Nagoya, so the ground crew protected the solar cells from the sun with covers. However, the strong wind managed to make its way through under the covers and damaged the wing. Stay tuned for the next flight, which should be the final attempt to cross the Pacific Ocean!
