The film looks at the standards required, including fitness, leadership, weapons handling and specialist skills such as landing craft drills. The wartime role of the Royal Marines, defending NATO's northern flank in Norway, is examined, as Marines land by landing craft and helicopter from the assault ship HMS Intrepid (L11). Soldiers are shown training in arctic conditions, the command and control elements of the exercise are examined, and at the end of the exercise the commandos depart by helicopter and landing craft for HMS Intrepid (L11)
