VENICE, CA — Friday, March 6, 2026 — City crews carried out a coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation Friday morning along the Venice Beach oceanfront corridor following the posting of a “Notice of Major Cleaning” earlier in the week.
The notice, posted March 4, advised individuals to remove all personal property from designated areas along Ocean Front Walk and Washington Boulevard by 6:00 a.m. Friday. The document stated that items remaining after the deadline could be removed by the City as part of a scheduled sanitation effort.
Friday’s joint response brought together Los Angeles Park Rangers Security Services, the Department of Public Works, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (ECI), LA County Beaches & Harbors, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and a homeless coordinator from the office of Councilwoman Traci Park. The operation spanned portions of the boardwalk, skate park, and adjacent beach areas identified in the posted notice.
Environmental Compliance Inspectors contacted individuals camping in the area and advised them to gather their belongings before sanitation crews began work. Individuals were given time to pack personal property and were instructed to leave trash, damaged items, and debris for collection.
At the Venice Skate Park, inspectors encountered several unattended belongings. The items were bagged, tagged, and removed as part of the operation. Inspectors then posted a property retrieval notice at the location informing the rightful owner that the collected items had been taken into City custody. According to the notice, the belongings may be reclaimed through “The Bin,” a City storage facility located at 507 Towne Avenue in Los Angeles, where non-hazardous property removed during sanitation operations is stored. The notice states that items not posing an immediate threat to public health or safety may be held for up to 90 days to allow owners an opportunity to retrieve them.
Public Works crews removed accumulated refuse and bulky items, while Clean Harbors personnel identified and disposed of hazardous materials encountered during the operation. Los Angeles Park Rangers Security Services remained on site to monitor compliance and provide security.
Representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office assisted with inter-agency coordination throughout the morning.
City officials describe major cleaning operations as part of ongoing sanitation and public-safety efforts in high-traffic coastal areas.
