Ask the MD: Parkinson's Disease and Acting Out Your Dreams (RBD)

Описание к видео Ask the MD: Parkinson's Disease and Acting Out Your Dreams (RBD)

Acting out dreams — yelling, kicking or punching during sleep — is called REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD). RBD can, in some people, be one of the earliest symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Movement disorder specialist and MJFF Senior Vice President of Medical Communications Rachel Dolhun, MD, talks with Terry Goldin, who acts out his dreams, and his wife Holly, about their experience and proactive approach to life with RBD.

The Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) is studying volunteers with RBD, both with and without Parkinson’s, to develop better treatments and, ultimately, prevent the disease. Learn more and join PPMI at https://www.michaeljfox.org/PPMI-Enroll.

The "Ask the MD" series is intended as an educational resource for people with Parkinson's and their loved ones. Please consult with your personal healthcare provider to address individual medical questions.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. https://www.michaeljfox.org
