Thomas Oliver - Boy (Live)

I have this photo on my phone from an evening in 2014 when I went around to Thomas’ place and for whatever reason, he asked if he could play a new track he had been working on. That track was later released as Boy.

Through meteoric triumph, and unimaginable loss, at varying points in our careers we have slept on each others couches, and known a true friendship that I hope all people experience with at least one person in their lives.

And though our friendship was based around an instrument in common, I can’t remember a time we actually talked about guitars. I have always loved that.

I have seen Thomas when he didn’t know his ass from his elbow, and he has always been the same. Eloquent. A champion of the young. A perfectionist. An outspoken passive. A friend who has guided and corrected me when I was wrong. And a man who would commit anything to heighten the art.

I wanted to re-release this recording because I thought it captured his genius. I have no idea how many hits the original video ended up with but in the order of several hundred thousand.
