As an Early Alpha it has its fair share of glitches but to say it's not worth your time due to mixed reviews on Steam is a mistake, the Planetside community is awesome and the game will be great if you help out, file bug reports and help the devs make it better.

I was actually dragged over the coals for not properly understanding the game Planetside 2 and just jumping in, I spent a good time running across open terrain looking for the battle in that game only to be flamed on Reddit and told C would put me in the fight! Pays to RTFL!

It's worth your time as PlanetSide 2 has great longevity and this game will have that also, releasing it as a second download is interesting as Games like Sea Of Thieves included an Arena mode but perhaps the engine in this is a complete rewrite that it needed to be separated.

In the Closed Beta testing last week I got the chance to try out the large squad mode that features 12 players per team, and it was immediately different than any other battle royale game simply from a team communication perspective. There will also be other modes, such as 3-player teams, as well.

Almost everyone had mics, they were calling out items and enemy positions, and there’s a ping system similar to the one used in Apex Legends. The gameplay feels much more like Halo than it does short time-to-kill shooters such as PUBG. Everyone has a jetpack, can summon a vehicle at will, and spawns with basic weapons and abilities from the very start, for example.

Part of me does miss the mad scramble for loot at the start of the match you’ll find in other battle royale games, they’ve essentially skipped the entire first phase of most battle royale games, especially since you have no control over where you drop at the start of the match is all.
