Описание к видео Abstrac - Right and Hype ( Teddy Riley New Jack Swing)

Right and Hype - Produced by Teddy Riley.

Abstrac (sometimes stylized as Abstrac') was a female R&B/dance trio. Their Reprise single "Right and Hype" was listed on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks in 1989–1990, reaching position 89. This song also appeared on the Hot Black Singes chart, achieving a position of 23 and appearing for 17 weeks.
The group consisted of Topaz Del Bettis, Mary Brown & Marsha McClurkin

Members Mary Brown and Marsha McClurkin subsequently formed a new jack swing duo named M & M.

In the world of new jack swing, there were a lot of R&B acts that were uneven. There were times they had the vocals and production, but not the promotion at their record label. For the ones signed to labels with big promotion budgets at their labels, they were lacking in strong vocals and great material.

The duo mostly responsible for new jack swing- Teddy Riley and Gene Griffin- had everything in their corner. That was until they were involved in a nasty breakup over financial issues. During 1989, the two had created the sound and overall feel of the new jack swing movement. Out of their camp, came acts like Al B. Sure, Today, The Gyrlz, Wrecks-N-Effect, Redhead Kingpin and the short lived female trio Abstrac'. Comprised of New York based singers Topaz Del Bettis, Mary Brown and Marsha McClurkin, the group released their debut in 1989- around the time when Riley and Griffin were parting ways. Most of the production was handled by Gene Griffin and Wrecks-N-Effect member Markell Riley. Markell's older brother Teddy handled the instrumentation and arrangements. Another producer contributing to their album was new jack swing's unsung hero Bernard Belle- the brother of Columbia Records singer Regina Belle (Regina also contributes background vocals to their album).

Starting off the album is "Looking Out For #1"- a song that bears a striking resemblance to another Griffin produced hit, Johnny Kemp's "Just Got Paid". They share vocals with Bernard Belle on the ballad dedicated to loyalty "I'll Be Your Friend". On the first single "Right And Hype", they share their desire to find a specific kind of man. Their labelmate William "Zan" Aquart pens the songs "Buggin' Over You" and "You're My Kind Of Guy". They close the album with their lone contribution as writers "You Are The Party (I Am The Fun)". Sadly, this would be their only album as a trio- as Topaz would leave the group shortly thereafter. Mary and Marsha would continue on as a duo called M&M, and would contribute background vocals to projects like Bobby Brown's "Bobby" and LL Cool J's "14 Shots To The Dome" (Brown would later become a songwriter on albums by Destiny's Child and Tatyana Ali, among others). Their album could have been better, but there were two things weighing it down
