Come and enjoy a ride down one of the most iconic and well known railways in the UK on an even more iconic steam train. Enjoy the ever changing but always stunning scenery, the fabulous stations and of course the tunnels and bridges that make this line fantastic.

Sadly 80097 has recently been taken out of action, please see the update here:

Bury Standard 4 Group loco 80097
The Bury Standard 4 Group is devastated to announce that their Standard 4 mt loco, 80097, failed last weekend with a blown large boiler tube. This is following the replacement of all the 157 small boiler tubes, which had to be replaced following failures in May this year.
It is particularly saddening that it is just four years since 80097 was restored to steam following her thirty four year restoration by the volunteers of the Bury Standard 4 Group. A significant part of the restoration was the almost complete rebuild of the boiler by a specialist boiler company and which cost the Group £130,000. The expected boiler tube life is over ten years.
This latest blow will cause serious financial problems to the Group, who have not yet paid off the £7,000 cost of replacing the small tubes and who now face a bill estimated towards £40,000. This is in addition to the loss of steaming fees in the busy Christmas season, as 80097 is not expected to return to traffic until Spring 2023.
The Group will endeavour to make as much progress as these financial constraints allow in the current restoration of their Ivatt 2 loco, number 46428.

Find information here on how you can help get this magnificent loco back on the rails, every little helps - http://www.burystandard4group.org.uk/

See how many stations you can recognise, and even better than that see if you can spot the three disused stations, some are easier to spot than others!

Starting at Heywood you are transported along the line to Bury, Burrs Country Park, Summerseat, Ramsbottom, Irwell Vale and then ending just before Rawtenstall.

Stations on this video are as follows:

0:00 Heywood Station
3:55 Broadfield Station (disused)
8:20 Bridge Over M66 & Roach Viaduct
16:00 Bury Bolton Street Station
21:45 Burrs Country Park
28:00 Summerseat Station
29:40 Brooksbottom Viaduct & Tunnel (387m)
31:05 Nuttall Tunnel (105m)
33:15 Ramsbottom Station
38:05 Stubbins Station (disused)
41:20 Irwell Vale Station
43:30 Ewood Bridge & Edenfield Station (disused)

Sadly due to how long this railway is (and how worth the money it is) my camera didn't quite hold out until the end. But if you are interested in the final section of line I do have the Rawtenstall to Heywood version here:    • Steam Train Ride On The ELR - East La...

The East Lancashire Railway is one of those railways that cater from people ages 1 to 100. A quick look at the calendar shows a jam packed year of galas, themed weekends (including Thomas The Tank and Peppa Pig) and then more grown up events such as numerous dining trains, ale trails and even a murder mystery night.

Of course the real stars of the ELR are the locos, the one used in this clip (80097) is of course fantastic, but they have a fine collection of Steam, Diesel and DMU locos that will keep any enthusiast happy.
