2 Mistakes to Avoid When Sharing the Gospel

Описание к видео 2 Mistakes to Avoid When Sharing the Gospel

Where do you most often hear evidence being presented? In court. Who receives evidence in court? The judge and the jury. When we go out to the streets or campuses and encounter someone who arrogantly declares, "I don't believe in God," our instinct is to present them with evidence. But what are we doing when we do that? We’re putting them in the position of judge and putting God on trial.

Scripture warns us, "Do not put the Lord your God to the test." Yet, in these situations, we're essentially doing just that—implying that God is on trial and they are the judge. The problem here is clear: while you might win that court case by presenting wonderful evidences that God has graciously provided to bolster our faith, you’re affirming the wrong judge.

Think about this: if someone claims to have been converted because of evidence, it doesn’t mean they aren’t a Christian. God can use evidence to draw people to Himself. However, if their faith is based solely on evidence, then they're still assuming the role of judge over God. This is a precarious position. Why? Because the circumstances of life can drastically shift our perceptions.

For example, imagine a tragic event, like accidentally harming a loved one. Such an event might present new "evidence" that seems to contradict the existence of a loving God. The scales of belief might then swing back and forth based on the latest evidence, video, or argument they encounter. But the core issue remains: who’s holding the scales? The unbeliever. They are judging God based on their perceived evidence rather than submitting to Him.

True faith requires us to bow the knee to Jesus Christ, recognizing Him as the ultimate judge and authority. Evidence can support our faith, but it shouldn't be the foundation. God is not on trial. We are. And He commands all people everywhere to repent and believe in the gospel.
