So be warned, this is not for the faint hearted but if you want to know EXACTLY what goes into the creation of a Barry banger then this School of beats episode should not disappoint.
We first witness Barry plundering the sample opportunities available within the Progressive rock genre. Barry decides to lift a whole chunk of prog and then layer the heck out of it. So to start off with, Barry demonstrates some intricate drum programming and layering. With the drums in the bag Barry goes on to show how to utilise the vast array of plugin VST sample instruments to build up musical layers giving the track both a full epic sound as well as lots of additional musical variety and variation.
Finally we get a snap shot of the mixing process where Barry imports the 30 odd stems into protools and gets busy.
So if you make it all the way through this one you can consider yourself a truly dedicated Beatmaker and should give yourself a well deserved pat on the back. ENJOY FOLKS
