Both units are stand alone that do not necessarily depend on a laptop with dj software.

I think the SC5000m wins the challenge because of the higher tech and larger screen however
with the electronics, you have to be careful when transporting it.

The SC3900 is great for everyday DJ'ing with a laptop. It works very well with Virtual Dj Pro.
It has a 16 Bit internal sound card and playing back CDs and USB's are crystal clear as well.
