On August 4th, 1974 Conway Scenic Railroad opened its doors to tourists of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It all started when founder Dwight Smith bought a 0-6-0 steam locomotive numbered 47 (today known as 7470). Now 50 years later Conway Scenic Railroad is celebrating its 50th anniversary. On August 4th, 2024 the railroad operated a photo freight for railfans to enjoy. Powered by Boston and Maine 4266 and 4268 the freight consist went from town to town replicating an historical freight train. The 4266 and 4268 are owned and maintained by the 470 Railroad Club of Portland Maine and stored here at the Conway Scenic Railroad.
