CAP Changemakers: Reforming the Courts

Описание к видео CAP Changemakers: Reforming the Courts

“CAP Changemakers” is a series of compelling conversations in which current and former Center for American Progress staff share the inside stories behind the building of progressive policies that have improved the lives of everyday Americans throughout the 20 years of CAP’s history.

Please join us for the next event of the series, “Reforming the Courts”, featuring CAP’s Senior Director of Courts and Legal Policy Devon Ombres and Program Director for the Alliance for Justice - and former CAP Director of Federal Courts Programs - Jake Faleschini.

In this conversation, Devon and Jake discuss how CAP’s work on Courts policy has evolved from focusing on nominations to our current foci of court reform and the degradation of legal precedent. Devon and Jake address the growing consensus among civil society, legal scholars, and elected officials on the need to implement term limits on a high court that is increasingly out of touch with everyday Americans. They also talk about coalition groups are working together to bring these reforms–as well as lower court reforms like ending judge shopping–to the forefront of the progressive policy agenda.
