How to measure the volume of the bladder using the QSONO D8 wireless ultrasound system.
Steps:
1. To measure the volume of the bladder, start with the patient in supine and the ultrasound probe positioned in transverse plane, in the patients mid-line, just superior to the pubic bones.
2. Angle the probe inferior at an angle of around 30 degrees, or until you see the bladder come into view. Tilt the probe until you have the largest image of the bladder on the screen.
3. Enter 2 B mode and freeze the left side image with the transverse view.
4. Rotate the probe 90 degrees to obtain the sagittal view.
5. Enter the bladder volume measurement and take 3 measurements. Left to right, anterior to posterior and caudal to cephalic, using the transverse and sagittal views already obtained.
6. The ultrasound machine will give you the bladder volume measurement as a result.
