Comparative anatomy of the lumbar vertebrae

Описание к видео Comparative anatomy of the lumbar vertebrae

A typical vertebra consists of two parts: the vertebral body and the vertebral arch. Together, these enclose the vertebral foramen, which contains the spinal cord. The vertebral arch is formed by a pair of pedicles and a pair of laminae, and supports seven processes, four articular, two transverse, and one spinous.

The lumbar vertebrae are longer and more uniform in shape than the thoracic vertebrae. They are also shorter in height, with long, flattened transverse processes that project laterally.
