Описание к видео GARTANG GALI - THE LOST HIMALAYAN ROUTE

Get ready for another exciting Safar bin Manzil episode as we go to the captivating Gartang Gali. Gartang Gali, which is situated in the lovely Nelong Valley close to the Indo-China border, has a complex history that has been lost and regained.

A 136-meter-long wood-lined stairway, this 150-year-old masterpiece is thought to have been constructed by Peshawari Pathans. It is a wonder of architecture, carved into a vertical rock face. In the past, traders moving between Tibet and India used the Gartang Gali as a crucial commercial route. However, after being destroyed in the 1962 Indo-China War, it was abandoned.

This area is made much more fascinating by its association with Heinrich Harrer, the renowned Austrian climber whose flight to Tibet during World War II served as the basis for the Brad Pitt-starring Hollywood movie "Seven Years in Tibet". According to legend, Harrer crossed Gartang Gali on his perilous expedition.

Join us as we explore the intriguing background and information about Gartang Gali.
