Ingredients :
Oxtail / beef ribs / beef cuts 1kg
Potatoes medium 4
Carrot medium 4

Spices and aromatics:
Garlic 10-12
White pepper 1tsp
Nutmeg (muskatnuss) 1tsp
Cinnamon sticks 2
Cloves 10
Cardamom 10
Star anise 1
Large onion 1
Salt and pinch of sugar to taste

Garnish:
Coriander leaves and stems, chop coarsely.

For me personally, this soup is best served with coriander and crispy fried shallots.
Eat with warm rice or glass noodle, or just enjoy as it is ☺️

There are many versions of Indonesian Oxtail Soup ( Resep Sop Buntut ) but this one is my grandmother's signature cooking. She used to cook this oxtail soup when I was little and whenever I came visiting her in my adult time. I regret not having the chance to learn cooking from her when she was still around, she was one of the most amazing home cooks that I have ever known. Now, every time the rain pours and the sky is cloudy, I remember the fragrant smell coming from her kitchen and the memories of her.
I have tried to recreate her oxtail soup and perfected it from time to time, and today, I am ready to share my version of her soup. At this moment I am missing her very much. I hope she is proud of me: her grand daughter who didn't even care to learn to cook when I had the chance, but now is very eager to always cook for her little family.

This is my first attempt at creating cooking video, and I am still figuring out how to use a camera properly to record video. I think it shows from the shaky shots, wobbly tripod, and some of the shots without proper lighting. There are always rooms to improve, and that's my motivation. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy my recipe and it can bring some warmth and joy for you as well 😊
