🇬🇷 Nafpaktos, Greece (Popular en route to Delphi)

Nafpaktos is a BEAUTIFUL Venetian seaside town in Greece, near to Patras (18km) and popular as a stop off for tourists travelling between the Peloponnese Greece and Delphi.

A historic medieval naval town, Nafpaktos was strategically important due to its geographic location at the mouth of the Gulf of Corinth, now 10km only from the Rio-Antirio bridge connecting the Peloponnese with mainland Northern Greece.

Nafpaktos is a Venetian town, with Italian Venetian styled architecture, Ottoman mosques, a fantastic Venetian castle, fortified harbour and many shops, restaurants and hotels.

This upmarket town, site of the Naval battle of Lepanto in 1571 and visited by Miguel di Cervantes is ideal to visit for a night or 2, or even longer having also 2 fabulous beaches. Very popular with people travelling to Delphi from the Peloponnese this town reminds me of a small Nafplio, having a similar style and tourist culture.

3 hours easy drive from Athens, Nafpaktos should be on the list of anyone exploring The Peloponnese and the historic site of Delphi in Greece and wishing to travel Greece.
