live performance, one take (no punch-ins, no overdubs, no cuts, no edits whatsoever)

The Kahuna CLU fretless originally comes w/ polyurethan strings. Unlike other bass-ukuleles w/ a string-through bridge it has no opening in the back. So in order to use flat wound chrome strings (w/ a ball end), the instrument needs to be modified. The back has to be cut open so the strings can be fed through the holes. It is also necessary to retrofit the instrument w/ a different nut.

The bass line to this 12-bar Blues in Bminor I play here, is my very own adaption of the classic "The Thrill Is Gone" made famous by BB King who recorded it in 1969.

equipment in use:
◉ Harley Benton Kahuna CLU-FL (scale: 54 cm)
◉ strings: Kala Gallistrings 4 FW
◉ amp: Roland Cube-15XL
◉ iPhone X
For mixing the audio recording was fed into a DAW and sonically very softly treated with a 'Scheps omni channel' (by waves) plug-in.
