A WEEK of selfish SEWING ~ Making a Vintage Inspired Capsule Collection for Winter

Описание к видео A WEEK of selfish SEWING ~ Making a Vintage Inspired Capsule Collection for Winter

Hello My Lovelies,

I took a few days off recently and decided to sew a few new pieces for my vintage inspired wardrobe. Using only fabrics from my stash and patterns I already had, I ended up making a little collection that all went together and were interchangeable. I'm so pleased with how everything came out and it really gave me a boost, just as though I'd been on a fabulous shopping spree! Admittedly, it took a bit more effort but I know that I value each item of clothing that much more and I'd really thought about the things I wanted to make and how they would work in my wardrobe.

The lovely wool tweed was given to me and I used my Circle Skirt Zine/guide to draft my pattern ~

The 1940's blouse and trousers are from Simplicity 8447 which is a firm favourite of mine ~

I made a video way back when about the ammendments I made to alter the blouse pattern ~

The white fabric is a Florenza Crepe that I got a few years ago from Minerva. They don't stock the white colourway anymore but there are lots of other nice colours to choose from and it's good value for money too ~

I used a black jumbo cord from Jacobs Haberdashery to make the trousers and I also made the waistcoat from it. I'm not sure that they still stock it but here's their website just in case ~

The waistcoat pattern, Simplicity 4079, is years old but I really love it. Well worth it if you can hunt it down!

My Dita skirt is available as a tutorial ~ you can use any pencil skirt pattern that fits you and follow along with me to make your own ~    • SEW a Dita Von Teese Skirt ~ Pattern ...

I used a black cotton sateen from Minerva which is no longer available but there are lots of alternatives out there.

My Greta Blouse and dress is available as a paper guide ~ https://www.taradeighton.co.uk/produc...

The fabric was from Jacobs Haberdashery and is no longer available.

Finally the groovy blouse pattern Style 3881 which I found in a charity shop and the vintage fabric was a gift.

My lovely ear rings were a wonderful gift from my student Thom and you can find him on instagram as   / for_the_prize_   and his Etsy shop is https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ForThePrize
He makes the most beautiful treasures and can do commissions too so head over and see all the beautiful things!
