seen in about 35-40 % of preterm newborns

gradual switch to normal patrern of breathing happens over a period of time

it must be differentiated from APNEA in newborn which is a danger sign , where the baby stops breathing for mire than 10 seconds-20seconds sometimes associated with bluish discolouration of palms soles or mucous membranes and decreased heart rate , which needs immediate medical care …. Be aware of it ….
