I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in a short exchange program where for two weeks in the spring a German student would stay with me and my family in the U.S. and experience day to day life as I typically live it (with some fun activities and experiences too) and for two weeks in the summer I’d go live with her and her family in Germany to practice my speaking skills and gain a better insight of German culture. I was able to do so much on weekends and with the small group of other Americans participating in the exchange. I got to see Lichtenstein Castle, Tübingen, Hohenzollern Castle, Black Forest Open Air Museum, Schiltach, the Ritter Sport Factory, Königstraße, Fernsehturm, the Porsche Museum, Esslingen, Dachau (I did not take any photos or videos here as I wanted to be able to be respectful and present), Marienplatz in Munich, Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle, Ulm, Mercedes Benz Museum, and more. I am so grateful for this opportunity and learned so much about the German culture and school system, while also being able to practice my German speaking skills (I definitely need more work there).
