Faye Wong - Moonlight Serenade - 月光小夜曲-王菲 1985

A Very Happy Birthday to Faye Wong on this day, the 8th August, 2016. Faye's is one birthday I always remember with it being so close to mine. I must try to remember more of our channel nightingale's birthdays in the future! This is Faye at the age of 15 singing the classic "Moonlight Serenade". It comes from her August 1985, 14 track cassette album " Charming Calle " (迷人的卡勒) which was her debut album, released by Yunnan Audio Publication on 1 March 1985. It was issued on cd in 2003 by Focus Music Ltd., China. On it, she sings in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and English. She recorded Where Comes the Wind (风从那里来 on 15 June 1985, and had a collectors album issued the following year.So Faye had already made her mark in mainland China before she moved to Hong Kong in 1987.
Faye was born in Beijing on August 8, 1969. Her father was a factory engineer who had to work very often, and her mother was a soprano, always traveling on the road to perform, so her family seldom spent time together. But she had a god-mother that was her next door neighbor. Faye’s god-mother loved Faye as if she was her own. Faye was also an extremely bright student. While still in high school, she took and passed the examination to enter Xiamen University which is one of the most prestigious and selective universities in China. However ...

At the age of 18, Faye's father arranged for her to go to Hong Kong. She was living in Whampoa, Hong Kong and enjoyed going to Causeway Bay alone. After modeling school, her father introduced her to Di An Tsong to develop her singing. Faye’s teachers cherished her, and involved her in many school events. When the teacher introduced Faye to Chan Tsiau Bao, he was astonished by her voice, and encouraged her to sign a record contract. When her parents signed her first record contract with Cinepoly, she was only 19 years old, and there were many things she did not understand. Without any worries, she released her first album “The day with no patience," and stumbled into a golden record. The rest is history ...
