Hadith Evidence:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The poor will enter Paradise half a day before the rich, and that is five hundred years.”
(Reported by At-Tirmidhi, 2353; authenticated by Al-Albani)

Quranic Evidence:

Allah says:
“Indeed, your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward.”
(Surat At-Taghabun 64:15)

And He also says:
“And those who were oppressed will say to those who were arrogant, ‘Rather, it was your conspiracy by night and day when you were ordering us to disbelieve in Allah and set up equals to Him.’”
(Surat Saba’ 34:33)

Why Do the Poor Enter Jannah First?
1. Less Accountability: The wealthy will be held accountable for how they earned and spent their money. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about… his wealth—how he earned it and how he spent it.”
(Sunan At-Tirmidhi, 2417; authenticated by Al-Albani)
2. Fewer Distractions: Wealth can lead to arrogance, attachment to the dunya, and negligence in worship.
3. Their Patience and Reliance on Allah: The poor who remain patient and steadfast in worship earn great rewards.

However, wealth itself is not evil. The rich who spend in charity and fulfill their duties will also attain Jannah, though after a more detailed reckoning.
