To my utter surprise, in the House of the Vetii I found the famous Alexander the Great floor mosaic. This was a large room-sized mosaic depicting the Battle of Issus, and is considered by many to have been perhaps the most accurate image of Alexander, since so much else in this magnificent mosaic is also considered very accurate in its depiction of the Persians, the horses, the melee, the soldiers' equipment, etc.
