Mănăstirea Bârsana este situată în Maramureșul istoric, pe valea Izei și are peste 4 secole de viață. Biserica este una dintre cele mai înalte construcții din lemn la nivel mondial și, datorită felului în care a fost realizată, probabil și una dintre cele mai frumoase.
Datorita frumuseţii idilice a locurilor si hranei spirituale pe care o oferă, nu întâmplător acest colţ de rai este numit adesea „Muntele Athos al Maramureşului”. Sute de pelerini vin aici zilnic, din toată lumea, mai ales în zilele frumoase de vară.

The Bârsana monastery is located in the historical Maramureș, on the Iza valley, and has more than 4 centuries of life. The church is one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world and, due to the way it was made, probably one of the most beautiful.
Due to the idyllic beauty of the places and the spiritual food it offers, it is no coincidence that this corner of heaven is often called "Mount Athos of Maramureş". Hundreds of pilgrims come here every day, from all over the world, especially on beautiful summer days.
