Battle of the Fancy Feast Stoves - Small vs Tall

Описание к видео Battle of the Fancy Feast Stoves - Small vs Tall

There's been a lot of discussion about the Fancy Feast Stove with the full, un-cut tomato paste can, gives better boil times and run-out times than my standard Fancy Feast stove with the 1" flame gap.

I figured I would do a series of four, boil and run-out tests with each type of Fancy Feast Stove. And then find out what the average time to boil and run-out time for each type was.

I had already done two tests with what I thought was the full, un-cut tomato can stove when I saw that I had used the Fancy Feast Stove with the tomato can cut down to a 1 3/8" (1.375") flame gap. This was the Fancy Feast Stove version I had made to test with the Sterno Inferno. Since I had already done two tests with this stove I figured I would finish the tests with it. I'm pretty sure the results will be pretty close to the same ones I would have gotten if I had used a stove made with a full size tomato can.

In these tests the "Time to Run-out" is when either the flames go out or the temperature drops below boiling, whichever happens first.

These are the results I got. Please keep in mind that there was an hour (or more) between tests so that everything can get back to room temperature (around 87° F).

Also the starting water temperature was 45° F (about the temperature of water coming out of my refrigerator) so I didn't have to wait for all the water to get to 60° F as usual. Because of this the "Time to Boil" times are a little longer than usual.

30 ml (about 1 fluid ounce) of methanol was used in each test.

Fancy Feast Stove with 1" flame gap
Test 1: Time to boil: 5 minutes 51 seconds Time to Run-out: 10 minutes 45 seconds
Test 2: Time to boil: 5 minutes 33 seconds Time to Run-out: 10 minutes 28 seconds
Test 3: Time to boil: 5 minutes 50 seconds Time to Run-out: 10 minutes 45 seconds
Test 4: Time to boil: 5 minutes 41 seconds Time to Run-out: 10 minutes 36 seconds
Average Time to boil: 5 minutes 44 seconds
Average Time to Run-out: 10 minutes 38 seconds

Fancy Feast Stove with 1 3/8" (1.375") flame gap
Test 1: Time to boil: 5 minutes 10 seconds Time to Run-out: 9 minutes 5 seconds
Test 2: Time to boil: 5 minutes 2 seconds Time to Run-out: 7 minutes 58 seconds
Test 3: Time to boil: 5 minutes 4 seconds Time to Run-out: 8 minutes 30 seconds
Test 4: Time to boil: 5 minutes 11 seconds Time to Run-out: 8 minutes 6 seconds
Average Time to boil: 5 minutes 7 seconds
Average Time to Run-out: 8 minutes 25 seconds

Time to Boil for 1" flame gap is about 37 seconds longer
Time to Run-out for 1 3/8" flame gap is about 2 minutes 13 seconds shorter.

I look forward to others duplicating these tests and showing the results they get.
