What is Continuous Glucose Monitor?

CGMs is a medical device that can track blood glucose levels continuously and allows you to get an insider look into how foods, medication, exercise & stress affect your blood sugar levels every 5 minutes 24/7.

It is especially beneficial for people who have:

Type-1 or insulin using type-2 diabetes
Frequent low or high glucose levels
Want to reduce HbA1C values
Pre-diabetics
Gestational diabetes

How CGM works?

This device has tiny sensor wires or filaments that pierce the skin too frequently & easily assess blood sugar levels. The filaments remain in place, usually on the upper arm or abdomen protected by an adhesive patch. Results are displayed on a user’s phone.

How accurate is CGM?

Unlike blood glucose monitor, CGM sensor takes readings from interstitial fluid & not directly from blood. So there’s a natural lag between the readings but it's normal and expected for the CGM readings & BGM readings to be slightly different and at certain times levels need to be verified as well.
