The visit to Alibaba’s Cloud & Tech headquarters felt like walking into a sci-fi film set—lush indoor vegetation, lighting that mimicked sunlight, and a wall dedicated entirely to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Every detail reflected how deeply rooted innovation is in Alibaba’s DNA.

The most mind-blowing part? A lecture by Alibaba’s former Director of Cloud, conducted in Mandarin with live translation, where students explored how AI models are trained, why hyper-localized models are critical for monetization, and how close we truly are to reaching AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). The insights shared didn’t just showcase the future of technology, they revealed how the tech world might look completely different by the time this generation of students graduates.
