How to Shoot Photos in "Boring" Places

How to make good photos in boring places. I've challenged myself to make some interesting photos of the area I live. Each winter I go through a phase of feeling a bit unenthusiastic about getting out to make photos, when I shouldn't because winter sun tends to be my favorite type of light. By looking for light and shadow and objects and graphic compositions, I can find interesting photos even in my "boring" neighborhood.
