Cleveland Heights is turning the page. On Wednesday, Tony Cuda was sworn in as the city’s interim mayor.

“Expect things to calm down,” said Cuda. “Our government hasn’t quite lived up to the greatness of the people of our city and that’s what we want to make sure happens in the next few months.”

This follows embattled Mayor Kahlil Seren being recalled last month, after his administration was filled with scandal.

“Turmoil, chaos, recklessness, pettiness. Those are words that really kind of come to mind when I think of this last administration,” said James Bates, a community activist.

On his last day in office, Seren dropped one last bombshell on City Hall by firing Law Director William Hanna, who had served six years on the job.

In a termination letter, Seren told Hanna he was being fired "for cause" and alleged a "repeated inability to truly and fairly represent those entities and officials to which you have a duty as law director and my reasonable expectation that you will continue this damaging pattern of poor representation of the city council and its individual members, the incoming interim mayor, and the next elected mayor."
