Layering system is something I have used for many years of adviriding, to me this is as natural and practical as it has been in ages for any other outdoor clothing for sports or adventures. The Mongolia Jacket is designed for extreme adventure riding and warm weather. It's more like a jersey than a jacket. Includes protections but could also be used over a separate body armor.
