I spent 4 days doing the Lakes Loop Hike in the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan. I was doing a hike after 2 years, so this was possibly the most challenging hike I have ever been on.

Few people manage to come to remote Tajikistan and a fraction of them go for Lakes Loop Hike as we did. So, we had the lakes pretty much to ourselves. Every lake in this circuit left me spellbound, each better than the other.

➜ Is the Lakes Loop hike in Tajikistan a difficult hike?
There are difficult stretches while hiking and it's best suited for someone who is a seasoned hiker.

➜ How much does a Lakes loop hike in Tajikistan cost?
It depends. We did an independent hike which means we carried everything from sleeping bags and most of our food. So, the hike was pretty inexpensive for us. I'd say around 10-20 USD per day.
But also have to say it wasn't easy, especially because I wasn't carrying a tent with me (I couldn't even find rental companies in Tajikistan to rent out hiking equipment) and for 3 nights, I only found a place to stay because of the kindness of strangers. Not eating proper food before the hike also took a toll on me and made it even harder to hike. Not to mention, proper drinking water was always an ongoing problem considering that I wasn't carrying a filtered water bottle with me. Also, a huge language barrier.
