German prisoners aboard USS Wakefield in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. Coast Guard enlisted men teaches a group of German POWs (Prisoners of War) how to tie knots in a line. Several German POWs in uniform paint the deck of USS Wakefield (AP-21). A CG sentry, wearing a uniform and a guard belt and carrying a rifle, is seen in the background. German POWs paint a stanchion on the deck of the Wakefield. The POWs bend over while painting the deck. Location: Atlantic Ocean. Date: 1945.
