The Long Walk (2025) Review. Stephen King’s chilling early novel finally comes to the big screen, decades after it was first written. Directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games, I Am Legend) and adapted by JT Mollner (Strange Darling), The Long Walk follows 50 teenagers forced into a deadly walking competition across America, with unimaginable riches for the sole survivor.

The film stars Cooper Hoffman as Raymond Garraty and David Jonsson as Peter McVries, whose unexpected friendship provides both the heart and soul of the story. While Hoffman continues to prove himself after Licorice Pizza, it’s Jonsson who delivers a breakout performance worthy of serious awards talk.
