Grizzly on BEARTOOTH HIGHWAY! - July 2022 - Road closed

I drove to the top of the Beartooth Pass on July 7th, 2022. I only saw one other person up there. ONE! Usually there’s a constant stream of cars traveling over this gorgeous road.

On the way up I was able to film a grizzly bear on the side of the road, and a whole herd of Mountain Goats once I reached the pass. It was an incredible experience! Also the sunrise at Beartooth Lake was epic!

The Beartooth Highway, like Yellowstone Park, has had a rough summer due to the record floods of June 13, 2022. It briefly opened on June 9th only to have the road washed out in 6 different places a few days later.

After repairing damage caused by the floods Yellowstone reopened the Highway on the Wyoming side on June 28th, allowing visitors to drive all the way to the top of the pass. The Montana side remains closed. With no visitors allowed to travel through the Northeast entrance of the Park, and no visitors allowed to drive from the Montana side of the Highway there are virtually no visitors up on Beartooth Pass.
UPDATE: The highway is now fully open!
